Sylvia is a Master Practitioner in NLP, which is the study of Human Excellence. NLP demonstrates how to communicate effectively and influence others. It is defined as follows:
- Neuro – relates to the brain and how your neurological processes affect your thoughts, emotions and physiology and subsequent behaviours.
- Linguistic – relates to language and how you use it to communicate with others and influence your experience.
- Programming – relates to repetitive patterns of behaviour and the internal thoughts that help you evaluate situations, solve problems and make decisions.

Sylvia has run NLP groups at the Dukes Priory, Essex, for individuals suffering from a range of mental health and life problems, e.g. Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Abnormal Grief Reaction, Relationship and Family Problems, etc.
NLP can help you to succeed and make a positive difference in your life, and when utilised therapeutically, it is a psycho-educational approach which helps you to focus on what you want to improve and understand better. It also helps you to understand why you react in certain ways to different situations, how you repeat self-defeating patterns of behaviour, and what you need to do to change these things for a better outcome.
The principles of NLP help you to focus on your own life and your interactions with other people, and the steps you need to take to achieve the goal(s) you have set yourself.
