For the past 10 years, Sylvia has had a private practice at The Priory Hospital, Roehampton, offering one- to-one therapy, sex and relationship therapy and Stress Management, as well as Mindfulness Meditation Groups for people suffering from a variety of health difficulties or mental health illness.
Sylvia offers CBT Therapy for individuals, couples or young people, who are finding life difficult to cope with. Her commitment is to help people to understand what is happening to them, to find a way to take greater control of their lives, feel better about themselves and, when they feel ready, to move forward.
CBT is an extremely effective therapy that aims to solve problems of negative and/or distorted thinking, disturbed emotions and behaviours through a focused, systematic approach.
Some people can achieve the change they want in 6-16 CBT sessions even though the problem may have developed over many years. However, sometimes people with more complex issues may need a more extensive treatment programme, while other people may find it helpful to follow up their original treatment programme with individual sessions from time to time, if they think or feel the need arise.
CBT helps to teach you how to change the automatic negative thought patterns that can cause your symptoms and distort your view of what is happening to you. It gives you a positive approach to resuming your normal daily life.
